Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Susan is a graduate of The College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio, where she majored in both Art History and Japanese (spending her junior year at Waseda University in Tokyo). Susan studied studio art at The Art Student's League, The New School, The Brooklyn Museum Art School, The Somerset Art Association, The Morris County Art Association and The New Jersey Center for Visual Arts.

Susan is an Artist Member of the American Artists Professional League and a founding member of Studio 7, an artists' studio/gallery cooperative in Bernardsville, New Jersey. In 2001 she was accepted in the prestigious Hudson Valley Art Association's 70th annual exhibit, and participated in The Art of Freedom show in Oldwick, New Jersey where her painting was one of twelve chosen to be in a 2003 calendar whose proceeds benefit the victims of September 11. Most recently Susan won Best Equine painting in Show, and Best in Auction for her paintings at the 2003 Hunterdon Therapeutic Riders Art Show in Pittstown, New Jersey.
